The Company of the Daughters of Charity, present in 96 countries with approximately 12,800 Sisters, is at the service of Christ in the least fortunate on every continent.

The Daughters of Charity will hold their General Assembly in Paris, 140 rue du Bac, their Mother House, from October 29 to November 21, 2021.

As usual, this Assembly will evaluate and promote fidelity to the charism and the apostolic vitality of the Company as a whole.

A week-long retreat will introduce three and a half weeks of reflection on the theme, EPHATA! Break through the gate… Go towards… Encounter…Together, the members of the Assembly will seek the best way to respond to major challenges such as the respect of human rights and holistic development for those most abandoned in society, care for our “common home,” the mystique of “living together,” passing on the faith and Christian values to younger generations… in fidelity to the Church and to their charism.

The election of the Superioress General and her Council will take place during this Assembly. This Council is responsible for the spiritual animation of the Company of the Daughters of Charity and the coordination of apostolic efforts among the different Provinces.

This international event is also an opportunity to go more deeply into the message of the Founders, Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Louise de Marillac, in order to live the present creatively, determine guidelines for responding to today’s missionary and spiritual challenges and approach the future with joy and confidence.
