Sister Apolline Andriveau. The Scapular of the Passion.

The Passion of Christ is one of the most beneficial sources that provides and facilitates the most intimate union with our Lord and traces a sure path to holiness, as the Holy Scripture reminds us: “Be holy, for I am holy” (Lev 11:44). Thus, meditating on the Passion of Jesus has been a favourite theme for St Vincent de Paul and many other saints throughout the history of the Church. Today, as Daughters of Charity, we are called to bring the Passion of Jesus into dialogue with the calvaries of the men and women of our time, on the outskirts of our cities and in the forgotten corners of the world. May the love of Christ crucified drive us to go beyond the law of “love your neighbour as yourself”, to follow the extreme law of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends”.
