PREVENTION PROJECT: “I am a Defender”

The Daughters of Charity of the Province of Bogotá: Committed to the Defense of Life

Ten years ago, a pastoral service was created in the Province that seeks to confront multiple forms of violence against children and adolescents, especially human trafficking, with the creation of the network “Defenders of Lives.” It is built on three axes of intervention: Research, Communication, and Pedagogy.

The Network aims to minimize the impact of the phenomenon of violence with the motto:

“One more hand, one less victim”

The Project reaches out to schools, communities, and parishes through a pedagogical process designed for children, adolescents, parents, teachers, and youth animators. Called “A journey in favor of life”, it seeks to empower participants and invites each one to use the tagline: I am a Defender.

Our network is made up of a team of Daughters of Charity and lay persons from various disciplines, who, based on their expertise, organize to make this pedagogical commitment possible.

We dream of a society free from violence, where life and dignity come first and foremost, where protective spaces are provided for children and adolescents so that they may grow and develop, free from threats and trauma. We are putting our lives on this dream, assisted by the Province’s human and logistical resources as well as its solicitous support.
