The Assembly is studying the third theme

After the elections, all the members are continuing their efforts: dialoging, sharing, studying, clarifying – for “God’s good pleasure” (Saint Vincent) and a better service of persons who are poor. This third theme – “A Company enriched by the participation of all Sisters” – makes it clear that this includes all our responsibilities and our commitments in the various facets of our lives: spiritual, community, and service.

We have the following aspects on which to work:

  • The spirit of communion in an international Company
  • Participation and subsidiarity
  • Responsibility for the charism of the Company and its missionary vocation.

Availability and mobility, as deep-rooted attitudes, are necessary in order to be “without borders,” and open to universality.

This common desire was expressed at a plenary session during which a globe of the world was placed on the head table and the phrase of the Apostle Paul to the Galatians was adapted thus:

In Christ, there is no east or west, in Him no south or north, but one great family bound by love throughout the whole wide earth (cf. Ga 3:28).

On Sunday evening during Vespers, in an atmosphere of reflection, we celebrated the sending on mission of five Sisters (four Vietnamese Sisters and one Peruvian Sister): one for the Province of the Caribbean, two for the Province of Central Africa, and two for the Province of the Congo. What joy!

We are now “in the final stretch” toward the closing of our General Assembly…
