Health care & nursing

Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take as your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was sick and you visited me. (Mt 25: 34.36)

The first mission of the Daughters of Charity was visiting those who were poor and sick in their homes. In their recommendations to the Sisters concerning their service to the sick, Saint Vincent and Sainte Louise advised the Sisters to be attentive to the many small details that could bring them comfort.

Restoring broken health is all about improving the quality of life, so according to different realities, our Sisters look for the best ways to address the physical and spiritual needs of the people who are sick. Using some of the most developed resources of current medicine, they strive to serve the sick with compassion, gentleness and great respect, the virtues so important for their Founders.

Because Health care is a primary need for every person it is a priority for us and we work in:

  • AIDS ministry
  • Health care in hospitals and clinics
  •  Community Nurses
  • Hospital chaplaincy
  • Dispensaries
  • Fighting leprosy

Project D.R.E.A.M. (Drug Resource Enhancement against AIDS and Malnutrition) provides cost-free, comprehensive treatment for those who are HIV-positive in Africa, with emphasis on preventing transmission from mothers to their unborn children. For more information click here.
